NL100 to NL500 in 1 year!

Post by NoTime »

Hey guys,

I have started my bankroll challenge today and my goal is to keep you updated to make myself accountable.
I have very little practical poker experience and hope I can get some tips about my play and my stats.
The site I have chosen for this is ggpoker. Only 2 regular tables will be played so my volume will be low.
When I start feeling more comfortable I will increase the number of tables.

Session1: Started playing very well but towards the end of the session my concentration decreased and I played worse. This will not happen ever again. However, I was very pleased with the level of play of my opponents. There was always at least one big fish at the table and the multi tablers were very tight and passive.
Good start!

Second hand is obviously very bad without context. The opponent was a chinese whale with 70 vpip who has been sun running and splashing around.
The spot in the first hand will by default be folded next time until proven that villain does have bluffs.
The A3o was kind of spewy but villain was a multi tabler and shortstacker. If he had sth he would have jammed turn and I expect him to over fold river because I am unknown. Just felt like this would have the highest EV but not sure.

I will probably play another session later today (it is 6:30 pm roughly in my country).

Also let me promise this: I will have some more exciting hands for you guys in the future. The session was just very boring and there were barely any spots. :!:

Good luck with the challenge!

I think it would be interesting if you shared your preliminary plans and ideas about it. For example how are you going to manage your bankroll, going up (or sometimes down) limits, how do you plan to work on your technical and mental game, maybe some goals for hands per session or per week/month, etc.

If you don't mind ofc)

Cheers)

Before I respond in detail to the poster above I will give a quick update. I played a session this evening and was very happy with my play. However, the results were not that great.

New bankroll: 1125,53 €

Updated Grap & Hands

BRM:
My brm is going to be quite simple. I am starting with 1000€ which is ~12bi and a half for nl100. If I beat 100NL and don't bust my roll doing it, I will move to NL200 once I feel comfortable and I have at least 2500€. If I dropped below 1000€ I would move back to NL100.

Improving my game:
I will do 1 of the quizzes on the zenith website per day and also review all my sessions once I have accumulated some hands and reviewing videos. I also post some stuff here and later will post stats so better players can give me some hints what my leaks might be.

Improving my mental game:
I don't think my mental game will be much of a problem. I stop playing once I feel tilted and focus on playing well till the end of the session and not get sloppy.

Your bankroll management strategy is very aggressive. You might get chopped up by the variance. Honestly, anything less than 20 buy-ins is a throw of the dice, regardless of the edge you might have.
The deck owes you nothing.

Thank you for posting Thomas. I know that my brm is too aggressive but I am willing to roll the dice to get to NL200 quickly or go busto.
